'Injectable bone' helps fractures

A polymeric material that can be squirted into broken bones, where it hardens within minutes, has been developed by UK scientists. The toothpaste-like substance forms a biodegradable scaffold over which the body's own bone grows. Researchers at Nottingham University said it could help remove the need for painful bone grafts in many cases.

NIU lab celebrates Mitutoyo partnership

Northern Illinois University (NIU) hosted officials from Mitutoyo America Corp., Aurora, Ill., at the recent opening of the university's new, state-of-the-art metrology laboratory. The Mitutoyo Metrology Laboratory was developed to teach students in the science of dimensional measurement and its uses in manufacturing and related tasks.
