Book focuses on fatigue and fracture of medical metallics
STP 1515, Fatigue and Fracture of Medical Metallic Materials and Devices, 2nd Volume contains papers addressing the thermal and mechanical properties of shape memory alloys and metallic medical materials and devices. The main focus is on nitinol. Biocompatible implanted devices, for instance, could potentially rely on the hyperelastic response of nitinol alloys. Book topics include: finite element analysis of stents; metallurgical basics of martensitic transformations and fatigue behavior of nitinol; and crystallographic basis of deformation and fracture in nitinol. The book is available in a 150-page print edition and as an e-book. To order, contact ASTM publications at service@astm.org or (610) 832-9585.
