Flexible-etch circuits can fill gaps between round wiring and printed circuit boards. Benefits include space and weight savings in that a single flex circuit can replace several hardboards, cables, and connectors, eliminating up to 75% of the space and weight of traditional wiring. The circuits are repeatable and quick to install. They fit only one way. This eliminates wire-routing errors and reduces testing, rework, and rejects.

In addition, the circuits work well in harsh environments. They are encased in polyimide, a dielectric layer that protects the wiring and connectors better than soldermasks.
