Diamond turner for polymer optics
G-S Plastic Optics recently expanded its diamond turning capabilities with a new Precitech Nanoform 200 machine. This two-axis aspheric contouring machine with real-time operating system will be used for single-point diamond turning. The work center is also equipped with a slow tool servo that enables the company to rapidly manufacture large departure freeform optics. By bringing this capability in-house, the company can offer improved operational efficiency and delivery times, specifically in rapid prototyping and limited production runs of polymer optics.

Level, flow, and pressure sensors
A twelve-page brochure contains a quick overview of Gems level, flow, and pressure sensors, and valves and relay controls. Products include high performance sputtered thin film and chemical vapor deposition pressure transducers and transmitters, pressure switches, solid-state electro-optic level switches, specialty side mount level switches, and continuous level transmitters. For control applications, the brochure highlights miniature and subminiature solenoid valves, including specialty cryogenic and isolation types for high purity or aggressive fluids. Valves are followed up with the company's range of relays, controls, receivers and alarm/annunciator panels.
Phillips Plastics has broadened its manufacturing capabilities to include multi-shot liquid silicone injection molding (MS LSR), a process that combines liquid silicone rubber and traditional thermoplastics in one molded part. This process brings together the advantages of multi-shot thermoplastic molding with the properties of silicone to produce a versatile, soft feel part with biocompatibility, chemical resistance, clarity, and the ability to withstand harsh environments. MS LSR is an easy way to cost-effectively add product features and opens design options that are aesthetically appealing and economical from an engineering perspective. MS LSR saves on assembly costs, by reducing part count and the amount of material needed to make two separate components.
Connectors for device leak tests
ME and ML style medical connectors are used in high-production leak tests. A recent brochure contains features and benefits of the connectors, as well as dimensional product illustrations, and a part number guide for simplified connector selection. The ME series connectors seal conventional and non-standard surfaces of tubes, lumens, catheters, and other smooth or threaded medical devices. Introducing compressed air to the connector creates a uniform seal for testing up to 500 psi. ML series connectors are specifically designed to test many types of luers used in drug-delivery systems. The hold-and-seal design secures the luer while a special piston seals to the internal portion of the luer when compressed air is introduced.

Package tester works on flex, rigid, porous materials
The Mocon Lippke 4000 Series package tester performs a variety of leak and seal-strength tests on flexible, rigid, and porous materials. Model 4000 works alone while Model 4500 connects to a PC. The Mocon Lippke 4000 Series is the next generation in a line of positive-pressure medical-device packaging test systems that measure the strength of the package's seals and material while assessing the package's ability to seal its contents against atmospheric contamination. The 4000 Series provides precise, accurate, and reproducible test results consistent with ASTM Standards F2054, F1140, F2095 and ISO Standard 11607. The 4000 Series conducts tests at three different pressure levels, allowing package assessment under a range of conditions.

Pancake load cells for long fatigue cycles
Fatigue-rated pancake load cells are now available in 2.0 mV/V output. These load cells are primarily used for inline applications on actuators or threaded assembles. In addition to the high output, the pancake load cells are built for long fatigue cycles. Capacity ranges from 5,000 lbs to 50,000 lbs and most models use stainless steel making them more suitable for harsh environments. Options for amplified version and threading for both standard and metric are also available. The company also provides a Standard Calibration Service in Compression (free of charge) for these cells per NIST Traceable Standards.
