Piezo actuators use little power to move big loads

Piezo actuators, P-212, P-216, P-225 and P-235 series, are equipped with advanced PIC 255 Pica power piezoceramic stacks. They come with load capacities from 2,000 to 30,000N and travel ranges from 15 to 180 µm. More than 100 standard models are offered. All actuators provide sub-nanometer resolution and are available with position feedback for better positioning accuracy. Integrated preload makes these actuators ideal for dynamic applications such as precision machining and active vibration damping, and push-pull applications. The low-capacitance, piezo ceramics require less electric power than similar actuators, an advantage for high dynamics applications.

Snap-on shielding fingers improves attenuation

The V series of Variable Finger Snap-on BeCu gaskets offer EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness to 100db attenuation. By reducing the number of full snap-on fingers on a strip, the shielding effectiveness of the V series is increased, since there are fewer gaps to close. Each gasket is offered in five different finger, or slot patterns, and snap-on mounting provides fast, secure installation with high durability. The V series is ideal for bi-directional applications, requires only a low closing force and closes gaps as small as 0.02-in. Item numbers 187V32FXx, 250V37FXx and 282V60FXx are available configured to custom lengths.

Air filter prototypes in five days or less

An air filter design company offers a complimentary, round-the-clock prototype service to design engineers worldwide at its Web site. To receive a prototype, submit a request on the Internet or by telephone, fax, or e-mail. After the prototype is submitted, it is produced and shipped within five working days. Air filters meet the following standards and classifications: UL 94 HF-1, UL 900 Class 2, CE, Telcordia NEBS GR-78-CORE and GR-63-CORE, and RoHS Compliance. When used as part of a fire enclosure, they also may be configured to comply with the flame-drip requirements described in UL 60950 and EN 60950.

Testing for torsion

The 55MT MicroTorsion is well suited for testing materials and parts that must withstand constant twisting and wrenching, such as medical devices (wire and bone screws, for instance) biomaterials, and electronic assemblies. The 55MT Series, in 220-Nm (2,000 in.-lb) and 22-Nm (200 in.-lb) designs, simulates many applications with torsional stresses.
