TECH SPOTLIGHT: CONNECTORS & CORDS
Connector securely extends ethernet cables
For connecting peripheral devices, repairing or replacing cable links, or extending network cables, CAT6 RJ45 wireable connectors allow on-site assembly with no special tools for up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks. CAT6 RJ45s consist of a color-coded adapter and an ethernet connector. The devices integrate three strain-relief settings suitable for cable diameters from 5 to 9 mm. The connectors are shielded to protect cables from EMC interference.

Latching Micro-D connectors
Micro-D connectors with finger-release side latches replace retention options previously limited to screws. The micro-miniature connectors are available with the latching mechanism built directly into a metal housing. Another option lets users retrofit the latches into existing Micro-Ds. Latching Micro-Ds come with standard pin counts from 9 to 51 positions and 50-mil pitch. Applications include medical and instrumentation.

Connectors for custom medical applications
A new open-frame connector system suits applications where a custom configuration is needed. The corrosion-resistant aluminum frame can hold a combination of power, signal, coax, pneumatic, and fiber-optic connectors. Many configurations can mate more than 100,000 times over the lifetime of the connector system. Nonmagnetic coax connectors are also available.

Miniature stainless steel luer lock fittings
New 303 stainless steel luer fittings come with either a 10-32 internal or 10-32 external thread. Integral barb and plug designs are available. For extra security the luer fittings have a locking feature and some models are available with a shut-off mechanism. The fittings provide a leak-free connection and include a Buna-N O-ring seal. If the application involves unusual fluid or temperature extremes, EPDM, Viton, Silicone, Teflon, AFLAS, Chemraz, Fluorosilicone, and Neoprene O-rings are available.
The company also has a full line of stainless steel and brass quick disconnect couplings, check valves, pressure regulators, and compression fittings. Custom designs are available.

Miniature HyperGrip connectors
The 5-position HG0-Mini HyperGrip connectors feature a push/pull latching design that provides a simple, one-hand quick disconnect. When mated, they provide sealing to IP67. The devices are easily keyed in one of six different standard keying positions to prevent mismating. They provide an insulation resistance of 100 megohms at 500 V dc, and a breakdown voltage between contacts of 800 V. The smooth shape makes the connectors easy to clean. The connectors come in front- or rear-panel mount receptacle designs, providing the option to mount the harness assembly from inside or outside the device enclosure. HG0-Mini HyperGrips provide sealing to IP67 when mated and are fingerproof to IE60601.
