FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg and CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner will speak on US policy and regulatory issues affecting medical technology at AdvaMed 2013 in Washington, Sept. 23-25. This year’s theme is “Bringing the Value of Innovation to Patient Care, Health Care Systems and Economies Worldwide.” Hamburg will kick off the event with her discussion of device-regulation developments at the Food and Drug Administration. CMS’ Marilyn Tavenner will follow the next day with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ perspective on patient access to medical devices and diagnostics. Tavenner oversees an $820 billion budget that funds healthcare coverage for 100 million Americans.
“These government leaders will illuminate what the industry needs to know from a regulatory and reimbursement standpoint to continue creating life changing innovations,” says AdvaMed CEO and President Stephen Ubl.
Medtech executives from 1,000 companies are expected at AdvaMed 2013.
