Medical OEM’s are continually challenged with ever changing regulatory issues regarding material selection. One of the most widely used plasticizers for PVC, DEHP, has received much criticism for its possible adverse affects on human health and the environment. Recent regulations in the U.S. and Europe have banned DEHP for use in certain applications and could possibly affect the medical industry in the near future.
Mark Colton from Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics will be presenting a technical review on the key issues involved in selecting a non-DEHP alternative material.
The course will cover-
- Overview of PVC and other plasticizers
- Discussion of regulations currently affecting DEHP use
- Review of non-DEHP alternatives including testing data
- Summary of potential DEHP alternatives and suggestions
- Live question/answer session with presenters
